Rendering curved Surfaces

In the lesson we were ask to paint over the work of Jordu Schells work using a greyscale to produce a light source and following cast shadows.

This is the image we had to paint over.

My Grey Scale.

When I painted over I decide to remove the hair parts on to of the body and the nose to create a bird like creature.
My Coloured Painted design.

When painting in grey scale I like the idea of the creature being a dark pinkish colour as I started to paint I took in other form that I thought that would look cool that of him wearing a skull for head protection and a form of dominance as a species.

Steam Punk.

Our task was to develop anything from the use of steam punk designs in which I chose to create my own robot where I would be designing for its features to help humanity.

From my mood I wanted my design to be of help from either a war machine to a civil servant.

These are some of the sketches I produced where each on has its own different story. the one that really catches my eye is the city robot allowing an entire city to travel around the world helping the human race continuous in the destruction of global warming. I developed two normal looking robot in mind of machines that can be used for public services where the idea of the robed robot to be a librarian where I tried to develop a mystical aspect towards the design. the other robot I developed to be the carrying machine to help construction sites build fast and support great weight.

This is the final idea where I took more  design from the two robots in the idea of helping in construction sites. I redesigned some aspects to bring out more of the steam punk feel but more importantly develop a fork lift ability allowing the machine to carry heavy equipment such as steel bars and being able to hold up the heavy objects with the new design feet allowing sturdier grip on the ground.

Paint over Techniques

In class we were given the objective to use images as a form of concept art, using this would allow us to produced fast work and more detailed pieces.

The first was to have a space looking concept the have the texture line up. we had to move the image into places using the transform tool then place on top of the 3D image to produce an example.

the last thing we to design our own vampire from a 3D model in which I decide that the model resembles an Gargoyle rather a vampire so I produced a stone texture on Photoshop to layover then added a blue rock filter to create more of a old stone texture. added lighting to the top left corner to bring out the creature more.

Quick Fish Designs.

In the lesson we were told to quickly develop fish designs within the lesson this excise was designed for us to develop a quick drawing skills with the results of not caring about the end results.

For this I have realized that I need to become much more care free and quick with my designs as I kept on removing ideas instead of going on with the idea.

Muscles

Human Muscles and their names.

Knowing where and what the muscles of a human body works is important when drawing
 Da Vinci drawings.

Head Modeling

For our 3D work we need to have the basic understanding of how to model the human head for character development or for our case statue making where it is important to understand the proportions of the human face.

To develop this we used two images front and side as a template (Images below) this allowed to construct the head and bend it around while following the guide lines placed on the image.
from this I created half the face then mirrored it so I got the other half allowing to connect the vertexes together to have the front half of the face.

To develop the back of the head I carried on following the lines by extruding the lines of the face so I could wrap around continuously allowing me to connect the jaw and neck together and finishing off the rest of the head.
The ear and nose were the most trickiest part of the developing the head where bending and extruding the lines to develop what the noses shape came out to be a bit pointy at first due the connecting vertexes together so I had to delete come line to flatten out areas which turned out to work out better.
For the ears I had to make them separately and due to the complication of the vertexes in which I decided to make it as simple as possible and not get involved with all the lines as you can see would be very annoying when connecting everything together.

I had a few problems when I was modelling the heads and ears in which were that I made the ear holes to simple for my ears to go so I had to delete some edge loops instead of adding them due to wanting my head to have flat edges on it to go with the design of my statue character in which ill be using later on. Restarting came an issue when finding extruded placed didn't fit the areas and needing to add more came to be a bit confusing when bending to the side view.
All together I had a difficult time making this but enjoyed the finished product even though it can be said of being a little simple of a design.
